Sustainable, Healthy and Affordable food choices on campus

IPB provides sustainable, healthy and affordable food choices for all on campus. Examples of student’s favorite canteens are Sapta Fateta, Yellow corner, Blue Corner, and Purple Corner.  Sapta Fateta has a uniqueness because there is free refilled water for the public. So, most students bring their own bottles instead of buying the packaging mineral water.

Vegetarian Menu in Campus

IPB’s Canteen provides menus for campus students and people who are vegan or vegetarian communities to be able to consume types of food that are tolerant of them. Many menu options to choose from, including gado-gado, karedok, and fruit juice are available in almost all canteens spread across the campus area.

  1. Gado-gado: dish of cooked mixed vegetables and peanut sauce

Gado-gado is a mixture of vegetables cooked with peanut sauce. Cooked vegetables are vegetables that are boiled first before being mixed with peanut sauce. The types of vegetables found in the gado-gado diet are kale, long beans, bitter melon, bean sprouts, spinach, chayote, cucumber, and tofu and tempeh. This gado-gado food is one of the food choices that can be consumed by vegans or vegetarians.

2. Karedok:

Karedok or commonly called Salad Sunda is a typical vegetable-based food. The vegetables used in cooking karedok are raw vegetables, so karedok is known as Salad Sunda. Raw vegetables used include cucumber, long beans, cabbage, bean sprouts, basil leaves, sweet potatoes, and eggplant or leunca. The vegetables will be cut into pieces and mixed into a container and then drizzled with peanut sauce.

3. Fruit Juice

Juice is one of the menus that vegetarians can choose from so that they can still fill their energy for activities on campus. Canteens throughout IPB have stalls that specialize in selling fruit and fruit juices such as avocado, mango, soursop, guava, orange, and others. This fruit juice is one of the menus that can help vegetarians choose a healthy menu.
