Collaborations and health services
In 2023, IPB University strengthened various collaborations in the health sector, which can be categorized based on global, national and local levels. IPB University strengthened health collaborations at global, national, and local levels through partnerships with institutions focused on human, animal, and environmental health. At the faculty level, this collaboration mainly involves the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SKHB), Faculty of Medicine (FK), and the Faculty of Human Ecology with the aim of improving the quality of education, research, and health services.

Other collaborations at the Global Level
- One Health System Training of Trainers One Health Systems Mapping and Analysis Resource Toolkit (ToT OH-Smart) for lecturers. This activity was held in collaboration with the One Health Workforce-Next Generation (OHW-NG) project run by the Indonesia One Health University Network (Indohun) which is part of the Southeast Asia One Health University (SEAOHUN) network. This project also received support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemdikbud) of the Republic of Indonesia and funding support from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
- One Health Workshop, Presented by Professor of Minnesota University USA. This One Health workshop was held with Prof. Shailendra Prasad, professor of the Faculty of Medicine, University of Minnesota, United States as the speaker. The workshop raised the topic “One Health Implementation in Medical Education, Research, and Community Engagement at IPB University”. This event highlighted the integration of human, animal, and environmental health, discussing collaborative strategies to tackle shared health challenges. Participants engaged in sessions focused on applying One Health principles in education, research, and community initiatives, fostering a holistic approach to health and well-being.
- Universities in Malaysia. IPB University has taken steps to establish a medical faculty and doctor training program by visiting two universities in Malaysia. This visit aimed to enhance collaboration and gain insights into developing effective educational programs. The team from IPB University discussed academic strategies, infrastructure, and curriculum development to ensure a smooth launch and high standards in their future medical faculty.
- Faculty of Medicine IPB University and Osaka University. The Faculty of Medicine of IPB University held a guest lecture with the topic ‘The Clinical Significance of Cell Polarity in Modulating Cell Structure and Functions’. This activity invited a guest speaker from the Faculty of Medicine, Osaka University, Prof Akihiro Harada.

- National Level
- SVMBS IPB University Organizes Horse Performance, Emergency, and Dentistry Seminar and Workshop. At the national level, IPB University through the School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (SVMBS) collaborates with PT Global Scholarship Services Indonesia to organize Continuing Professional Development (CPD) programs. The program was held from September to December 2023 and focuses on ultrasound diagnostic training for medical and veterinary personnel. The program was a part of a national effort to enhance professional expertise in the field of diagnostic technology.
- Diagnostic Abdominal Ultrasound in Small Animals (Basic) in collaboration with Royal Canin Indonesia. Royal Canin Indonesia in collaboration with IPB University, held a basic abdominal ultrasonography diagnostic training for small animals. The program, led by experts in veterinary diagnostic imaging and surgery, aimed to teach veterinarians the fundamentals of abdominal ultrasound scanning techniques. This hands-on workshop provided essential skills for veterinary professionals to improve diagnostic accuracy in clinical practice.
- Hasanuddin University and SVMBS IPB University. IPB University collaborates with University of Hasanuddin Animal Teaching Hospital in actively enhancing the hospital’s capabilities in animal health and biomedicine. This partnership, set to continue until 2028, focuses on education, research, and community service in the area.
- Livestock School in Lampung. In an innovative effort to enhance livestock management and animal health, IPB University has established three community livestock schools in Central Lampung. This initiative, supported by local farmers and educational institutions, aims to streamline agricultural practices through collaboration, ultimately fostering improved health and well-being in the community.
- Trisakti University . The recent collaboration between IPB University’s School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and Trisakti University highlights the importance of partnerships in advancing educational and research capabilities. By leveraging shared resources and expertise, both institutions aim to enhance student engagement in practical fields, ultimately contributing to improved health and well-being in communities. This initiative represents a significant step toward fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes innovative approaches to health education.

- SVMBS helps establish veterinary Medicine Study Program Universitas Negeri Padang. IPB University collaborated with Universitas Negeri Padang to establish a veterinary medicine program, emphasizing the importance of teamwork in enhancing health and well-being. The initiative aims to address the growing need for veterinary professionals in West Sumatra, highlighting the region’s potential to nurture future veterinarians through a tailored curriculum and supportive infrastructure.
- PT Great Giant Livestock (GGL) and IPB Implement Matching Fund Program. The collaboration between PT Great Giant Livestock and IPB aims to enhance community health and well-being through innovative agricultural practices. By integrating education and industry partnerships, this initiative seeks to empower local farmers, ultimately leading to improved socio-economic conditions.
- SVMBS IPB University Organizes Summer Course with a Focus on Sumatran Rhino Conservation. The recent summer course organized by IPB University highlights the importance of collaborative efforts in conservation, focusing on the critically endangered Sumatran rhinoceros. By bringing together participants from six countries and renowned institutions, this initiative fosters a deeper understanding of ecological health and the challenges faced in wildlife preservation.
- Skills Lab Workshop with the Faculty of Medicine of Padjadjaran University.
- Local Level
- Faculty of Medicine at IPB University collaborates with the Cibinong Regional General Hospital (RSUD). This partnership focuses on enhancing the quality of education and healthcare services in Bogor Regency.
- Bogor Regency Government with IPB University is developing agro maritime healthcare services based on the One Health approach. This initiative focuses on integrating human, animal, and environmental health to support sustainable agricultural and marine development.
- Bogor District Government collaborates with IPB University to ensure the health and suitability of Qurban animals.
IPB University’s outreach programs and projects that promote health and well-being in the local community are diverse and involve several key faculties, research centers, and student organizations. The outreach programs target local communities, disadvantaged people, as well as immigrant communities.
Here are some of the major initiatives and programs:
- Community Service Program (KKN – Kuliah Kerja Nyata)
One of the flagship outreach activities of student volunteering is the Community Service program, also known as “Kuliah Kerja Nyata” (KKN). During KKN, students live in local communities, especially in rural or underdeveloped areas, for several weeks. They also serve immigrant communities during this Community Service Program. They help with various projects aimed at improving health and well-being, including: One Health Education, Sanitation and Hygiene. Some of the Community Service Programs are as follows:
- IPB University Innovation KKN-T Students Participate in Posyandu Activities in Pasurenan Village. IPB University students in the KKN-T Innovation program assisted with Posyandu (integrated health service post) activities in Pasurenan Village, Banjarnegara. They helped local health cadres, recorded infant growth data, provided nutritional education, and offered additional food for malnourished children.
- PKM-PM ArtVenture Team Designs Art Group Therapy Method for Parentless Children in Villages. The ArtVenture team from IPB University designed an “Art Group Therapy” program to strengthen emotional management for parentless children in Kampung Pemulung.
- IPB Innovation KKN-T Students Hold Socialization of Animal Health Management and Anthrax

- Clinical Consultation for Smallholder Farmers in Central Lampung Regency. IPB University has introduced a new service called Integrated Livestock Health Clinic in Central Lampung. This initiative offers innovative solutions and clinical consultations for local farmers.
- Animal Health and Sacrificial Meat Inspection. Students and faculty members of SVMBS actively supported the community’s health needs by providing livestock and meat health checks for Eid al-Adha celebrations. They inspected animal health, offered consultations, and shared safe slaughtering practices, aiming to ensure high-quality, healthy meat for consumption. This effort also educated the public on preventing zoonotic diseases, enhancing community health awareness and safety in animal handling and food preparation.
- Pet Care Day 2023
- Collaboration between INDOHUN and SKHB IPB: Cross-Sector Coordination Efforts for the Livestock Community of Nagrak Village, Bogor Regency
- Outbreak Investigation Training. IPB University’s School of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences recently held outbreak investigation training for frontline animal health workers in Banten.

- Community Health Workshop. The Faculty of Medicine conducted a community health workshop aimed at enhancing health education and practices within the local community. This event featured discussions on public health issues and strategies to improve community well-being, fostering collaboration among health professionals and community members
- Faculty of Medicine and SVMBS IPB University Commemorate World Rabies Day. The program included educational sessions on rabies transmission, control, and vaccination, promoting a proactive approach to managing and preventing rabies outbreaks.
- Faculty of Human Ecology
The Faculty of Human Ecology (FEMA) is actively involved in research and community service projects focused on improving the nutrition and health status of local communities. They conduct studies and practical outreach aimed at Reducing malnutrition, Maternal and Child Health Programs, Family Planning and Well-being. The Faculty of Human Ecology also initiated collaboration for community services to refugee families.
- Nutrition Care Indonesia. Himagizi of IPB University hosted the “Gizi Peduli Indonesia” event, bringing together 131 nutrition students from across Indonesia. The program aims to enhance knowledge and awareness about nutrition among students, fostering collaboration and shared learning experiences to address nutritional challenges in the community.
- IPB Movement to Prevent Stunting. This program aims to raise awareness and educate families about proper nutrition and health practices to combat stunting among children including in refugee families. By fostering community engagement and providing resources, the initiative seeks to improve child growth and development in the region.
- Family education training to prevent stunting. The Bogor district collaborated with the Department of Family Welfare at IPB University to conduct family education training aimed at preventing stunting. This initiative focuses on educating families about nutrition, health, and hygiene practices to improve children’s growth and development. By empowering families with knowledge, the program seeks to reduce the incidence of stunting and promote healthier futures for children in the region.

- Creating Health and Cosmetics Product Innovations. Professor Irmanida Batubara from IPB University earned second place in the 2023 Academic Leaders Award for her work in innovating health and cosmetic products using Indonesian natural resources.
- Vocational School Lecturers and Students Uncover Stunting Factors and Prevention
This activity highlighted the importance of education and community awareness in tackling this issue, aiming to improve overall child health and nutritional status.
- Agrianita IPB University Organizes Free Health Checkup. Agrianita of IPB University held a free health check event as part of the 2023 Kartini Festival. The initiative aimed to promote health awareness among students, faculty, and the local community.
- PSIKOGA: Psychological Strengthening Service for Families of Cianjur Earthquake Victims. The “Psikoga” program at IPB University provides psychological support services for families affected by the Cianjur earthquake. This initiative focuses on strengthening mental health through counseling and therapy sessions to help families cope with trauma and rebuild their emotional well-being. The program aims to create a supportive environment and improve the overall mental health of those impacted by the disaster.
- Healthy Morning Walk in Celebration of IPB University’s 60th Anniversary. In celebration of IPB University’s 60th anniversary, a morning walk event brought together faculty, staff, students, and alumni to promote wellness and strengthen community ties.
- IPB University OHSC Students Goes into the Community. Supported by USAID and INDOHUN, students undertook two primary activities: maggot farming for organic waste management in Bubulak, Bogor, and educating mothers in Benteng Village on food safety.
3. IPB Medical Clinics and Collaboration with Health Services
IPB committed to improving physical and mental health and well-being of its students, staff, faculty members, and the public or local communities in general. Universities provide outdoor and indoor facilities including football, basketball, volleyball, futsal, etc. Venues are open for reservation to the public free of charge. Only limited facilities need to pay an extra fee. IPB University has a green and convenient jogging track in its campus which is open for free to the public.

Gelanggang Olahraga / Soccer field (outdoor)
Gelanggang Olahraga (GOR) Field is a multifunction football field facility shaped as an oval with an athletic racecourse track on the field’s border. The athletic track has a length of 400 m and a width of 10 m. The field itself has an area of 105 x 70 m2. The students always favor the field for daily or weekend sports activities. Other than that, the gymnasium field is also used for other campus events such as student orientation (MPKMB), Gebyar Nusantara Nights, events of Dies Natalis of IPB University, and others.
Gymnasium Indoor
The indoor gymnasium is the main building for every student’s sporting activity. The facility is located on the IPB University Dramaga Campus. Various IPB university-level and faculty-level sports matches are held in the gym facilities, which include futsal, basketball, and aerobics. The gymnasium also facilitates the student and lecture to conduct sports courses for students in the first year.
Agrifitness
Agrifitness is an indoor sports fitness facility in Wisma Landhuis (Landhuis Guesthouse), IPB University Dramaga Campus. This facility is intended for guests staying in the guesthouse. IPB University also has a fitness and wellness center, managed by the Department of Community Nutrition, Faculty of Human Ecology. All faculty, staff, alumni, friends of the university, and part-time students are welcome to join the facility membership program.
Archery Site Facility
IPB University has an archery sports facility for students and public use. Every Sunday, students share about archery through sharing sessions. During the sharing session, the student shares tips and tricks related to practical archery with other IPB University students or the public.
Basketball Field, Badminton, Tennis, and Futsal Facilities
IPB University has three basketball fields, two badminton fields, three tennis fields, and two futsal fields scattered in several places on the IPB University Dramaga Campus and Cilibende Campus.
Equestrian Park IPB University
Equestrian Park IPB is a supporting facility for the activities of the academic community in channeling their interests and talents in equestrian sports. This facility is also open to the public. On weekends, the community around the campus can experience horseback riding on the IPB University equestrian field. This facility can also support the implementation of equestrian competitions between students to increase the development of equestrian sports.
The Nutrition and Fitness Club encourages a culture of exercise and wellness across the university community. This initiative promotes regular physical activity and healthy lifestyle choices, aiming to support the overall well-being and fitness of students and staff. The club plans to organize events and programs to make fitness a fun, integral part of daily life at IPB.
Polyclinic of IPB holds the role and functions of serving lecturers, educational staff as well as their main family members, and students with free health care services and basic medical treatment, which includes information and services related to sexual and reproductive health care. Polyclinic of IPB has been appointed as a primary/basic health care provider and therefore allows for free-of-charge service for the public under the national social security agency for healthcare.
Some activities regarding sexual and reproductive health-care services:
- Maternal and Child Health Education. Agrianita IPB conducted socialization on immunization and early detection of maternal and child health diseases, especially breast ultrasound and PAP smear examination.
- Discussion on Strategies for Handling Sexual Violence. The high prevalence of violence against children in Indonesia, with 88% of reported cases in schools involving sexual violence, underscores an urgent need for comprehensive strategies addressing sexual and reproductive health in educational settings. Stakeholder collaboration is essential to establish effective solutions and create a safer environment for all students.
- Education on Sexual Violence Prevention
- PKM-PM Socialization on Pornography Prevention. The initiative aims to empower young people by offering thorough sexual health education, addressing the pressing issue of increased exposure to explicit content. By building a supportive community and delivering accurate information, it seeks to reduce youth vulnerability to negative influences and encourage healthier relationships among adolescents.
IPB University is committed to providing mental health support to IPB students, lecturers, and educational staff. IPB provides a counseling program free of charge to all students, and each Department is equipped with a team of counselors as appointed by the Rector’s Decree No.60/IT3/KM/2021.
IPB University provides mental health support for students through various services, including counseling and workshops, to address working pressures and personal challenges. The event featured expert discussions and practical advice to support students’ mental well-being, encouraging open conversations around mental health challenges. The PKM-PM Pelipur team from IPB University successfully implemented a peer counseling program using music to raise mental health awareness among children in collaboration with Adhikti Foundation. The initiative included various activities, such as discussing toxic relationships and emotional management. Students engaged participants through music performances and journaling, encouraging them to express their feelings and identify unhealthy relationships. Agrianita IPB University has launched an initiative to address mental health issues in adolescents, focusing on early identification of symptoms. IPB University’s regulations on smoking prohibit smoking across campus areas. This rule applies to all academic community members and individuals within the campus environment. These regulations regarding student life at IPB University, including a prohibition on smoking on campus. This ban is part of a broader effort to promote a healthy environment for students, staff. Polyclinic of IPB has been appointed as a primary/basic health care provider and therefore allows for free-of-charge service for the students, lecturer and public under the national social security agency for healthcare. IPB University’s Faculty of Human Ecology provides mental health consultation services. In addition to direct consultations on the spot, there is also a hotline number that can be contacted if staff or lecturers want to consult regarding mental health.
