Collaborations and health services

Current collaborations with health institutions
  1. Local: IPB University, in collaboration with the government of Bogor and West Java, assists in examining patient samples for COVID-19 testing. For this purpose, three laboratory units have been equipped. This effort accelerates early diagnosis and countermeasures for COVID-19 in Bogor and West Java.
  2. National: Primate Research Center (PSSP) and the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine actively participate in the national effort to produce vaccines against COVID-19 (Vaksin Merah Putih) by supporting pre-clinical testing of vaccine candidates. IPB Business School collaborates with UI and ITB under KitaAman.id platform provides information and preventive advice for overcoming the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Indonesia. (Ev.3)
  3. Global: The cooperation through the SATREPS Program titled “Ecological Studies on Flying Foxes and Their Involvement in Rabies-Related and Other Viral Infectious Diseases” is conducted by IPB and Japan universities supported by JICA and Japan AMED.
Health outreach programmes

IPB University conducted various outreach programs to improve the local community’s health and well-being, such as:

  1. IPB University Students have successfully created a socialization program, “Sukadamai Sehat”, to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The aim of this program is to increase the immunity of the people of Sukadamai Village by exercising together and socializing the making of hand sanitisers.
  2. IPB University facilitated a health check program for the community free of charge by requiring the community to submit various recyclable waste in exchange for a voucher to receive the health service.
  3. IPB University actively participated in the provision of medical supplies and equipment for Hospitals, Health Offices, and Health Centers in Bogor City and District, namely Regional General Hospital (RSUD) Cibinong, RSUD Cileungsi, RSUD Leuwiliang, RSUD Ciawi, RSUD Kota Bogor and Puskesmas Cangkurawok.
Shared sports facilities

IPB pays great attention to improving the public’s mental and physical health and well-being. IPB provides outdoor and indoor sports facilities which can be accessed by the local community with the applicable provisions/pre-booking such as IPB Archery Open 2019 as a good example. IPB University annually publish a report on sports facilities utilization (pg. 9).

Sexual and reproductive health care services for students

Polyclinic of IPB (functions 5&6) served lecturers and educational staff as well as their main family members and students in the needs for health care and basic medical treatment, including information and related health services to sexual and reproductive health care.

To reduce sexual and reproductive health problems, IPB actively conducts seminars and symposiums regarding this topic. IPB also organized programs and events related to reproductive health care, such as an event by Himaiko-IPB, an IPB’s students organisation called “Be Healthy Be Happy” activity with the theme of reproductive health, which was expected to increase the awareness of adolescents to maintain their healthy reproductive system.

Mental health support

IPB University provides a counselling program to support the mental health of its students and staff, and the service is available free of charge. Each department is equipped with a team of counsellors consisting of lecturers and students (as peer counsellors), as appointed by the Rector’s Decree No.7/IT3/KM/2020. Counsellor Training was also held to equip students with the basic ability to provide empathy and supportive response to peers in need.

IPB University actively promotes mental health awareness through several webinars or events, i.e. Koran Kampus IPB organizes webinars with the theme: “Maintaining Student Mental Health During the Pandemic”.

Smoke-free policy

The Rector Decree No. 13/I3/KM/2015 in article 9 (page 5) specifies smoking prohibition in the campus area. Article 5, point a, clearly states that: Every student & staff are prohibited from smoking or trading cigarettes on campus.

In 2020, IPB University release the Rector’s Decree No. 133/IT3/LK/2020 concerning Commitment to Achieving SDGs. In point O, page 2, clearly mentions smoking prohibition in the campus area (Ev.2, page 2, point o).
